Chandigarh, Aug. 31 -- The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested an incumbent and a former panchayat functionary in connection with an alleged embezzlement of Rs 24.69 lakh panchayat funds, officials said today.
Lakhbir Singh, former Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) of Jandiala Guru, Amritsar, now posted at Ghall Khurd, Ferozepur, and Manjinder Singh, former sarpanch of Gehri Mandi gram panchayat, Amritsar, were arrested following a complaint by a Gehri Mandi resident.
