Chandigarh, Aug. 21 -- The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), as part of its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, has arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Om Prakash, posted at Sohana Police Station, district Mohali, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1.55 lakh.

"The accused police official was arrested following an investigation into an online complaint lodged by the complainant on the Chief Minister's Anti-Corruption Action Line," an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said.

As per the complaint, a case had been registered against Gurjit Singh and his wife at Sohana Police Station. ASI Om Prakash, who was handling the case, demanded a bribe of Rs 2.50 lakh for cancelling the FIR. He subsequently accepted Rs1.55 l...
