Chandigarh, Sept. 5 -- Punjab is grappling with worsening flood conditions as the Ravi and Sutlej rivers wreak havoc across multiple districts. The Sutlej River breached a portion of the Sasrali dam in Ludhiana, prompting the Indian Army to step in to manage the crisis. Over 140 villages in Amritsar alone are inundated, with Gurdaspur and Firozpur also severely affected.
The flooding has spilled across the border, submerging villages and a police post in Pakistan near Palla Megha village in Firozpur, where the embankment faces the risk of further collapse.
