Chandigarh, Sept. 20 -- In a continued push to combat narcotics in the state, Punjab Police on Saturday apprehended 79 individuals involved in drug trafficking as part of the ongoing 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' campaign. This marks the 203rd day of the initiative, spearheaded by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, to root out the drug problem across Punjab.
The operation involved coordinated searches at 357 sites statewide, resulting in the filing of 56 First Information Reports (FIRs). So far in the campaign, a total of 30,298 suspects have been taken into custody, officials reported.
Authorities seized 11.4 kilograms of heroin, 644 grams of opium, 814 intoxicating tablets or capsules, and Rs 4.29 lakh in cash linked to illicit activities from...
