Chandigarh, July 15 -- In a major breakthrough during the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state as per the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Police has successfully foiled a targeted killing plot with the arrest of five operatives linked to the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang.

The gang was being operated by USA-based handler Husandeep Singh. Police also recovered two firearms-a PX5 pistol and a .32 bore pistol-from the accused, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, here on Tuesday.

The intelligence-led operation was jointly carried out by Counter Intelligence Punjab and the district police units of Amritsar Rural and Batala.
