Chandigarh, July 17 -- Punjab Police's Counter-Intelligence unit in Amritsar has unearthed a significant cross-border arms smuggling operation, arresting one suspect and recovering a consignment of ten .30 bore pistols with magazines, while confirming the involvement of a Pakistan-based smuggler, officials said today.
The officials said the Pakistan-based smuggler used drones to send weapons across the international border.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said the arrested individual, identified as Harjinder Singh, a resident of Dall village in Tarn Taran, has a criminal background, including two cases under the NDPS Act. He was recently released on bail.
