Chandigarh, Oct. 29 -- Continuing its sustained crackdown on narcotics under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann's campaign "Yudh Nashian Virudh" (War Against Drugs), Punjab Police arrested 87 drug smugglers and registered 71 FIRs during a special operation conducted across the state on Wednesday, marking the 242nd consecutive day of the anti-drug drive. According to official information, police teams carried out coordinated raids at 358 different locations, leading to the recovery of 2.4 kg of heroin, 1.8 kg of opium, 31 kg of poppy husk, and Rs 2,120 in drug proceeds. With these arrests, the total number of drug smugglers apprehended during the campaign has risen to 34,511.
