Chandigarh, Oct. 3 -- Continuing the anti-drug campaign, Punjab Police today conducted raids at 328 locations across the state, resulting in the arrest of 47 drug smugglers.

Forty-five First Information Reports (FIRs) were registered during the operation, part of the "Yudh Nashan Virudh" war against drugs launched by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

The raids, involving over 1,000 personnel from 120 police teams, led to the recovery of 2.3 kg of heroin, 3.1 kg of opium, 25 kg of poppy husk, 1,584 intoxicant tablets and capsules, and Rs 3,250 in drug money.

With these arrests, the total number of drug smugglers apprehended in the state has reached 31,684 in 216 days.
