Chandigarh, Dec. 22 -- Nearly two weeks after a case was registered over the disappearance of 328 sacred 'saroops' (sacred physical copies) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the Punjab government has ordered a high-level probe and constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to fast-track the investigation.

According to officials, the SIT has been formed by the Punjab Bureau of Investigation and will operate under the overall supervision of Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar. The move comes amid mounting concern over the sensitive nature of the case and growing public scrutiny.
