Chandigarh, July 30 -- Punjab's Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, alongside WHO India Representative Dr. Roderico H. Ofrin, launched 'Mission Umeed,' a cancer care pilot project in Bathinda, Mohali, and Gurdaspur, aimed at early detection and treatment of oral, breast, and cervical cancers.

The initiative, aligning with the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases, integrates cancer care across Punjab's health system, from grassroots Ayushman Arogya Kendras to tertiary hospitals.

Dr. Balbir Singh emphasized, "Early detection is key to curing cancer. This project reflects our commitment to accessible, high-quality healthcare."
