Chandigarh, Aug. 20 -- In a bold move to nurture young athletic talent and revive Punjab's sporting legacy, the state government today unveiled a plan to build 13,000 modern sports grounds in rural areas.
The initiative aims to provide budding athletes with world-class facilities to compete on national and international stages, including the Olympics.
Punjab's Rural Development and Panchayats Minister, Tarunpreet Singh Sond, announced that the first phase of the project is already underway, with construction started on 3,073 sports grounds in villages.
