Chandigarh, Aug. 13 -- The Punjab Labour Department has introduced simplified procedures for multiple welfare schemes to enhance accessibility for workers, announced Labour Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond today.
Under the 'Shagun Scheme' of the Punjab Building Workers Welfare Board, the requirement for a marriage certificate issued by a Tehsildar has been eliminated. Workers can now submit a certificate from the religious institution where the marriage was solemnised, accompanied by a self-declaration from both families, to avail the Rs 51,000 benefit.
Additionally, the need for a registered marriage certificate has been removed; workers can now provide photographs of the religious venue and officiants to access the scheme.
