Chandigarh, Oct. 4 -- The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab has accepted the resignation of noted industrialist and Trident Group chairman Rajinder Gupta from the post of vice-chairman of the Punjab Economic Policy and Planning Board, a position that carried a cabinet rank.
His resignation has triggered political speculation, with reports suggesting that he may be considered for a Rajya Sabha seat. The seat fell vacant after cabinet minister Sanjeev Arora was elected MLA from Ludhiana West.
Arora had resigned from the Rajya Sabha to contest the assembly bypoll, which was necessitated by the death of sitting legislator Gurpreet Gogi.
