Chandigarh, Aug. 7 -- The Punjab and Haryana High Court has imposed a temporary stay on the Punjab government's land pooling policy following a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by a Ludhiana resident. The court, during its second consecutive day of hearings on August 7, directed the state government to submit a detailed response within four weeks, with further clarity expected once the court's order is issued.
Advocate Charanpal Singh Bagri, representing the petitioner, informed the media outside the court that the PIL was filed by a Ludhiana-based individual, Advocate Gurdeep Singh, who is also a farmer affected by the policy.
