Chandigarh, March 4 -- Punjab government on Tuesday warned agitating revenue officials that if they do not return for work by the evening, they will be suspended.

Revenue officials have been agitating for a couple of days against the action by Vigilance Bureau in alleged corruption cases.

The government termed the strike of revenue officials "blackmailing and arm-twisting" and directed all striking officials to resume their duties or face suspension.

The warning further said their unauthorised absence from the duty will be treated as dies-non, resulting in break in service. They have also been warned of strict disciplinary action under Punjab Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 1970 adding that those who were under probati...
