Chandigarh, Sept. 4 -- The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has announced a USD 8.5 million (Rs 71 crore) relief package to address the aftermath of severe flooding across the state, emphasising swift compensation and rehabilitation for affected communities.

According to Punjab's Revenue, Rehabilitation, and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian, the state has already disbursed USD 4.25 million (Rs 35.50 crore) to all districts in the initial phase.

An additional USD 4.25 million has now been allocated to 12 heavily impacted districts to mitigate the widespread damage caused by the floods.
