Chandigarh, May 2 -- In a major push to overhaul the prison system, the Punjab government has introduced a new model of reform aimed at rehabilitating inmates and integrating them into the mainstream.

Prison Minister Ravjot Singh announced during a press conference that an 'Aam Aadmi Clinic' and a library have been inaugurated at Patiala Jail to provide better healthcare and educational resources to prisoners. The Minister emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader plan to establish similar libraries across all state prisons in the near future.

The state government has also implemented a new classification system for undertrial prisoners, categorizing offenses into 'major' and 'minor' brackets.
