Chandigarh, Aug. 31 -- Severe flooding has engulfed nine districts of Punjab, impacting 1,018 villages and causing widespread damage to homes and crops. The relentless deluge has left farmlands inundated and infrastructure crippled across the state.

Rescue and relief operations are in full swing, with 11 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and Army units deployed in four districts.
