Chandigarh, Dec. 30 -- In a remarkable turn of events, a farmer from Punjab's Fatehgarh Sahib district has won a lottery prize of Rs 1 crore after purchasing a ticket worth just Rs 7. The winner, Balkar Singh, had bought the Sikkim State Lottery ticket from a local stall in Sirhind on December 24.

Although the draw was held on the same day, news of the major win surfaced several days later as Singh and the lottery stall owner were engaged in community service during the Shaheedi Samagam in Fatehgarh Sahib.

Balkar Singh was reportedly busy performing langar sewa, while the stall remained closed for several days due to the religious gathering.
