Chandigarh, Dec. 29 -- : The Punjab government on Monday approved the creation of a new sub-tehsil in Hoshiarpur district and decided to upgrade Banur sub-tehsil, following key decisions taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann at his official residence.

Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Revenue Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian said the long-pending demand to upgrade Banur sub-tehsil in Mohali district has been accepted. He said residents had been facing difficulties due to the limited administrative setup, prompting the government to expand its jurisdiction. The upgraded Banur sub-tehsil will include two kanungo circles, 14 patwar circles, and around 40 villages.
