Chandigarh, March 12 -- The Punjab Legislative Assembly on Thursday passed a resolution with a significant majority to refer a breach of privilege case against Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira to the Privileges Committee.
The motion, moved by Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, follows a series of controversial statements and conduct by the legislator that the House has characterised as a direct affront to the Constitution, the Speaker's office, and the democratic mandate of the people.
