Chandigarh, Sept. 8 -- Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, addressing a cabinet meeting via video conference from a hospital, unveiled a robust relief package for flood-affected farmers and families today.
The state government has sanctioned Rs 20,000 per acre as compensation for crop losses, which Mann described as the highest such payout by any state. Cheques will be directly disbursed to farmers to ensure swift aid.
Families of those who lost their lives in the floods will receive Rs 4 lakh in financial assistance. Additionally, farmers with loans from cooperative societies or banks have been granted a six-month moratorium on repayments, with interest waivers for the period.
