Chandigarh, Aug. 6 -- The Punjab and Haryana High Court has temporarily stayed the implementation of Punjab's Land Pooling Policy until an environmental assessment study is conducted.

The court's decision came during a hearing, stating that the policy cannot proceed without a proper environmental impact evaluation.

The state government's counsel argued that no land acquisition is currently underway.

However, the court raised several critical questions regarding the policy's framework and sought detailed responses. The matter has been scheduled for further hearing, with the government directed to provide comprehensive answers.
