Chandigarh, May 23 -- A history-sheeter wanted in multiple criminal cases was injured in a police encounter near Ajnoha village in Punjab's Hoshiarpur district on Friday, police said.
The accused, Sarabjit Singh alias Pawa of Ajnoha village, opened fire at a police team that tried to intercept him following a tip-off about his presence in the area, SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik said.
In retaliatory fire, Singh was shot in the leg and was later admitted to the Government Hospital, Hoshiarpur, he added.
Singh was recently booked in two cases, attempted murder at Mehtiana police station and assault at Chabbewal police station. Earlier, five other criminal cases had been registered against him. He has also been convicted in a murder case and faces c...
