Chandigarh, March 1 -- In a major blow to trans-border smuggling, Amritsar Commissionerate Police (CP) has apprehended two drug smugglers, Karanpal Singh and Ranjit Singh, and recovered 4 kg heroin from them, Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said on Saturday.

The DGP said that the consignment, pushed in via drones, was linked to a notorious Pakistan-based smuggler using the Ferozepur sector for trafficking.

The arrested accused are hailing from border villages in Tarn Taran.

Yadav said that an FIR was registered at Islamabad police station, Amritsar. UNI GS CS1835
