Phagwara, April 1 -- Patiala police have registered an FIR (first information report) against 12 people for allegedly obtaining fake Scheduled Caste (SC) certificates to secure government jobs and other reserved category benefits. Tarsem Lal Chumber, head of the legal cell of the 'Reservation Chor Phado Morcha Punjab', welcomed the police action and extended gratitude to the Punjab and Haryana High Court, which issued the directive leading to the case registration. The accused have been identified as Amandeep Singh, Vicky, Manjit Kaur, Angrej Singh, Kulwant Kaur, Jaswant Singh, Swaran Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Balbir Kaur, Davinder Singh and Narinder Singh, all residents of Alampur village, Patiala district.
