Ludhiana, March 18 -- The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Tuesday strongly opposed the proposal of the Chandigarh Administration to cap the period of deputation of employees posted in the Union Territory from Punjab and Haryana against their respective 60:40 quota. Senior SAD leader Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said the proposal was flawed, baseless and ill conceived. "It has been prepared ignoring old commitments given to Punjab and Haryana by the Union government at the time of reorganization of Punjab. It is also against the interests of both Punjab and Haryana and should be withdrawn immediately," he said.
