Jalandhar, Jan. 27 -- The Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has launched the first of its kind "Sadak Surakhya Force" (SSF) in the state, which will be entrusted with the task of manning 5500 km of crucial roads to save the lives of people.





The SSF has a fleet of 144 ultramodern vehicles in the first phase to monitor the roads efficiently. These vehicles include 116 Toyota Hilux and 28 Mahindra Scorpio, which will be deployed after an interval of every 30 kilometres to monitor the roads. A team of four cops headed by an officer not less than the rank of ASI, as patrol incharge, will be in the vehicle.
