Pune, Oct. 28 -- The Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA), led by founder-president Balasaheb Ambedkar, today organised a massive protest march in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, demanding immediate action against developers responsible for stalled slum rehabilitation projects.

During the protest, a delegation from the party met with officials of the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA). The SRA officials reportedly agreed in principle to replace developers of projects that have been stalled for the past five years and to initiate penal action against them.

The officials also accepted the VBA's demand that, similar to Mumbai, eligible and ineligible slum dwellers affected by delays should be provided with Rs 15,000 as monthly rent compensation. Additio...
