Pune, Aug. 20 -- Prophet Muhammad's birth anniversary, which falls on September 5 this year, will be celebrated on September 8 in Pune, with the decision taken to ensure communal harmony in the city.
The Pune Sirat Committee announced the decision as the Ganesh Visarjan procession also coincides with the same day, September 5. The move has been widely welcomed by the city's residents.
Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar expressed gratitude to the committee for the decision, which was made during a joint meeting of police officials and the Sirat Committee yesterday.
