Pune, May 5 -- Nikunj Shah, a young mountaineer from Pune, has successfully summited Mt. Lobuche (6,119 m) in the Nepal Himalayas, according to information received here.
Shah, who successfully climbed Mt. Thelu (6,002 m) in the Garhwal Himalayas last year, reached the top of Mt. Lobuche on May 1, the Guardian Giripremi Institute of Mountaineering (GGIM) said in a media release.
Shah began his mountaineering journey at the age of 10 as part of the first batch of the Avhaan Nirman Udaan (ANU) programme taken up by GGIM.
Shah developed a fascination for mountains under the mentorship of veteran mountaineer Umesh Zirpe.
