Pune, Oct. 20 -- Six people were arrested today for organising cockfights and betting on them - exposing a new form of gambling and criminal activity in this city of Maharashtra, police said.
Along with gambling charges, the accused have also been booked under laws prohibiting cruelty to animals. The case has been registered at the Wanwadi police station.
The arrested have been identified as Amol Sadashiv Khurd (resident of Raviwar Peth), Mangesh Appa Chavan (resident of Bhavani Peth), Nikhil Manish Tribhuvan (resident of Ghorpadi), Amir Ayub Khan (resident of Ghorpadigaon), Sachin Sadashiv Kamble (resident of Bhavani Peth), and Pranesh Ganesh Param (resident of Camp).
