Pune, Aug. 1 -- Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who received the Lokmanya Tilak National Award here today, said the honour has raised his prestige.

"Some awards enhance a person's prestige, and this award has increased mine, that makes me very happy."



"This is a matter of pride for me to receive an award in the name of Lokmanya Tilak. This award has added to my personal stature. Half of my life was spent drinking four-anna (25 paisa) tea on the footpath," he added.



"But, because of the sacrifices of great leaders like Lokmanya Tilak, we are able to live the life we do today," he further remarked.
