Sitamarhi, April 25 -- Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary today announced that Punauradham in Sitamarhi district, believed to be the birthplace of Goddess Sita, will be developed as a major tourist destination in the state.

Addressing the inauguration of the Sitamarhi Mahotsav 2026 on the occasion of Janaki Navami in Sitamarhi district, the Chief Minister said it was a matter of great fortune for him to visit the sacred site on this auspicious day.

Choudhary stated that the development of Punauradham is being undertaken in a comprehensive manner.

The project, initially targeted for completion by June 2029, has now been expedited with a revised deadline of December 31, 2028.
