Lucknow, July 18 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has made it mandatory for public transporters to put up names, Aadhaar and mobile numbers of the drivers in their vehicles.
A directive has been issued to all districts stating that all e-rickshaws, autos, taxis, Ola ,Uber and Rapido along with other public transport will have to write their names, Aadhaar and mobile numbers inside their vehicles.
The Transport Department has fixed a 15-day deadline after which action will be taken against drivers who fail to comply. The system will be first implemented in Lucknow.
Instructions were issued after the chairman of the State Women's Commission wrote to the Transport Department on May 26 demanding such a system.
