Chandigarh, Sept. 5 -- The Punjab State Human Rights Commission (PSHRC) today issued a notice to the state's Chief Secretary over the failure of companies to contribute to flood relief efforts under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) obligations.

The notice was issued following a complaint by Dr. Panditrao Dharenavar, an Associate Professor at PGGC-46, Chandigarh, who highlighted that despite the Companies Act of 2013 mandating a 2 per cent allocation of profits for social welfare, no companies have contributed to the relief efforts for flood victims in Punjab.

Taking cognisance of the matter, Commission Chairperson Justice Sant Prakash sought a response from the Chief Secretary.
