Mumbai, July 2 -- Continuing its aggressive stance against the ruling Mahayuti government on the farmers' issues in the legislative council on the second day today, the opposition Congress demanded that farmers and farm labourers who die due to lightning in the state should be given a financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh by the state government. Congress leader Vijay Vadettiwar said the Rs 4 lakh assistance currently being given to such farmers and farm labourers should be increased to Rs 10 lakh.

During question hour, Vadettiwar also demanded a financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh for the victims of tiger attacks in the state.
