Mumbai, May 14 -- Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Harshvardhan Sapkal on Wednesday demanded that the BJP-led state government should conduct loss assessments (panchnamas) due to the unseasonal rains and provide aid to the farmers.

Addressing a press conference at Tilak Bhavan, he said that farmers in the state were already in crisis, and they are now hit by yet another blow. Unseasonal rains in May have caused massive losses to farmers, but as this natural calamity struck farmers, the coalition government in the state remains asleep, he alleged .
