New Delhi, Aug. 20 -- Strongly opposing the proposed law on automatic removal of the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers and Ministers if they are jailed for one month, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge today said that the law undermines the core values of parliamentary democracy and federalism.
Addressing the opposition parliamentarians while introducing the common candidate Justice (retd) B Sudershan Reddy for the post of Vice President, Kharge said, the Constitutional Amendment Bill undermines the core values of parliamentary democracy and federalism.
He said these bills were being introduced in "subterfuge at the fag end of the session, leaving no scope for meaningful debate or scrutiny".
