Prohibitory orders clamped in Dakshina Kannada
Mangaluru, May 28 -- Authorities imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarika Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) across several taluks in Karnataka's Dakshina Kannada district on Wednesday, following the killing of a pickup truck driver that sparked communal unrest in the region.
According to police, Abdul Raheem (35), also known as Imtiyaz, was hacked to death by unidentified assailants near Ira Kodi while unloading sand from his vehicle. Another person sustained serious injuries in the sword attack and was admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru.
The incident has led to heightened tensions across Bantwal, Puttur, Belthangady, Sullia and Kadaba taluks, where prohibitory orders have been enforced until 6 PM on May 30. A separate ...
