Pratapgarh, Dec. 17 -- A history-sheeter, Afsar Ahmad, was shot dead by unidentified assailants near Kanchanpur village under the Mauaima police station area in UP's Pratapgarh district, police said on Wednesday.
The attackers, who were riding a motorcycle, fled the scene. Police suspect gang rivalry to be the motive behind the murder.
Afsar Ahmad, a resident of Jaddopur village under the Delhupur police station, was currently living in Markhamau village of the Mauaima area. He was returning home on his motorcycle from Soraon late Tuesday night when three assailants stopped him near Kanchanpur and shot him in the head.
