Agra, Dec. 23 -- The Agra Police Commissionerate has taken strict action after allegations surfaced that a 35-year-old man was subjected to third-degree torture to force a confession in a murder case.
Achhnera ACP Ram Pravesh Gupta has been transferred, while the Kiraoli station in-charge (SHO), a sub-inspector, and a beat officer have been suspended. A high-level probe has also been ordered into the matter.
Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar today has entrusted the investigation to DIG Shailesh Pandey and Additional Commissioner Ram Badan Singh, citing the seriousness of the allegations. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry, the commissioner said.
