Bengaluru, Sept. 9 -- Karnataka Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Priyank Kharge has formally written to the Chief Election Commissioner of India, Gyanesh Kumar, urging the commission to initiate a comprehensive audit and ethical testing of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to reinforce transparency and bolster public confidence in the electoral process.
In his communication, Kharge recalled that he had first raised concerns regarding the security and procedural vulnerabilities of EVMs in a letter to the Commission dated December 3, 2024. He highlighted that Karnataka, with its robust technology, research, and development ecosystem, is well-positioned to carry out a court-monitored ethical hackathon and audit of EVMs.
