New Delhi, Feb. 10 -- Congress leader and Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge on Tuesday strongly criticised the demand to confer the Bharat Ratna on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, arguing that someone who, in his view, "worked against Bharat" does not deserve the country's highest civilian honour.
Reacting to recent comments by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Kharge took to X to mount a detailed attack on Savarkar's legacy. He questioned why Savarkar, whom he accused of repeatedly seeking mercy from the British, should be celebrated at the national level.
