Nahan, Sept. 12 -- A pall of gloom has descended over Thakur Gavana village in the Dhartidhar area of Sirmaur district after a private school teacher was swept away in the swelling waters of the Giri river.
The victim has been identified as Roop Lal, a teacher at a private school in Chandni Gram Panchayat. According to reports, the incident occurred around 5:30 pm on Tuesday when he was returning home after school.
Attempting to cross the Giri river, he lost his footing and was swept away by the strong current.
