Nahan (HP), Jan. 9 -- A major road accident was reported from the Haripurdhar area of Sirmaur district on Friday afternoon, where a private bus plunged into a nearly 400-metre-deep gorge, leaving at least eight persons feared dead and dozens of passengers injured.
Large-scale rescue and relief operations are underway with the active support of residents.
According to initial reports, the private bus, Jeet Coach, was operating on the Kupvi-Haripurdhar-Shimla route and was travelling from Shimla towards Kupvi when the mishap occurred. The accident took place near Haripurdhar on Friday afternoon after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.
