Ratnagiri, Dec. 5 -- A private bus carrying around 100 passengers plunged into a 70-foot-deep gorge in the Amba Ghat area of the district on Friday morning, leaving at least 15 people injured.

Police said the condition of four to five passengers is critical. All the injured have been admitted to the government hospital in Ratnagiri.

Senior Police Inspector Uday Jhavere of Devrukh police station said preliminary findings suggest the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn on the Amba Ghat road, causing the bus to skid off the roadway and fall into the gorge.

He added that all the passengers were from Nepal and were travelling to Ratnagiri for seasonal employment in mango orchards. Those with critical injuries are...
