Agartala, May 1 -- The Tripura Police is facing intense scrutiny following the escape of Gaurav Rabindra Wagh, an Indian Forest Service officer and principal accused in a high-profile Rs 60 lakh cash recovery case.

Wagh, who serves as the Divisional Forest Officer for South Tripura, managed to evade security surveillance two days ago, leading to what many are calling one of the most embarrassing incidents in the recent history of the state's law enforcement.

The controversy began on April 23, when the police arrested Rajendra Chintaman Kankachila at Agartala Railway Station after discovering Rs 60 lakh in his trolley bag. Rajendra, a close relative of Wagh, was en route to Mumbai and allegedly acting as a courier for the illicit funds.
