Puri, Feb. 4 -- President Droupadi Murmu visited the holy city of Puri on Wednesday, performing ancestral rituals and offering prayers at Sri Jagannath temple under tight security arrangements.

The President began her visit at Swetaganga, a sacred pond on the western side of the temple, where she performed "Pinda Dana", a ritual for her ancestors, guided by the temple priest.

Later, accompanied by Odisha Governor Haribabu Kambampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, she proceeded to the Sri Jagannath temple. There, she offered prayers to Lord Jagannath, his elder brother Balabhadra, and sister Devi Subhadra at the Ratna Simhasana, as well as to Mahalaxmi and Devi Vimala.
