Sabarimala (Kerala), Oct. 22 -- President Droupadi Murmu, who arrived in Kerala last evening for a four-day official visit, will undertake a spiritually significant pilgrimage to the Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa Temple today - marking a rare and historic occasion of a sitting President of India visiting the famed hill shrine.

Her visit comes nearly five decades after former President V.V. Giri's pilgrimage to Sabarimala, making it the first presidential visit to the shrine in recent history.
